SolvAir ends labour-intensive drying at Watershed Packaging with an urgent solution.

Watershed Packaging faced an urgent challenge with water-soaked energy drink cans after the steam sleeving process. Water remained on the sides and the ring pull section at the top of each can, and without an efficient drying system employees had to wipe each can manually before packaging, significantly slowing production and jeopardising a crucial client contract.

Watershed needed a solution within two weeks to complete that contract.

In just two weeks, SolvAir installed a 7.5kW blower system with precisely positioned 600mm Air Knives and Gesete Nozzles on a short 1m section of conveyor after the sleeving exit, clearing the water from the tops and sides of the cans. The blower system was supplied with a SolvAir Air Controller to regulate the speed and blowing force directed at the cans, and it runs at just below 40Hz, which reduces energy costs.

This eliminated manual intervention, so personnel now pick the cans and pack them into plastic trays, enabling Watershed to meet critical deadlines, reduce energy costs and dramatically accelerate their packaging process.
