At Mallows Bottling, employees had to dry each bottle by hand after filling and before labelling, causing substantial delays. SolvAir solved the issue by automating the drying with a PX750 5.5kW blower and two 762mm Aluminium Air Knives, which dry a large range of bottle sizes.

The Problem
Bottles dried by hand before labelling
Mallows Bottling’s production was suffering due to inadequate bottle drying immediately after the filling process. Liquid, both water and product, built up on the outside of the bottles, so they reached the labelling machine still wet and the labels did not adhere.
Employees were forced to dry each bottle manually before it could proceed to labelling, causing substantial delays and creating a critical inefficiency in the overall process.

The Implication
Missed deadlines and falling profitability
Manual bottle drying significantly slowed production, causing missed deadlines, and even increasing employee hours through overtime did not allow Mallows to meet work volumes. Labelling material waste and increased labour costs led to declining profitability.

The Solution
Automated drying with two Air Knives
A PX750 5.5kW blower system with two 762mm Aluminium Air Knives fully automated the drying process. The length of the Air Knives allowed Mallows to convey a large range of its bottle sizes through the system, and this bespoke solution eliminated manual intervention, reduced waste and significantly increased production speed and labelling quality.
With the drying automated, overtime fell and deadlines were met, so profitability increased.
