SolvAir's custom-engineered Air Knife Systems boost efficiency and quality in high-volume beverage packaging operations.
SuperBock’s brewery in Porto, Portugal, bottles beer in 33cl glass bottles on a line with a capacity of 60,000 an hour. Residual moisture around the crown caps and sides of the bottles was hindering label application, and SolvAir solved the issue with a 15kW blower, two 1000mm Stainless Steel Air Knives and a Gesete Type 500 Cap Dryer in a fully enclosed unit.
SuperBock’s existing drying system was failing to meet the demands of its large-scale operation, which has a capacity of 60,000 bottles an hour. Moisture was not being removed effectively from its 33cl glass bottles, particularly around the crown caps and sides, and this was severely hindering the crucial label application stage of production.
The inadequate drying process posed serious risks to SuperBock’s product quality and operational efficiency. Poor label adhesion due to residual moisture was potentially leading to increased rejection rates, higher production costs and damage to the brand’s reputation in the competitive beer market.
SolvAir’s bespoke system featured a high-performance 15kW blower, two 1000mm Stainless Steel Air Knives and a Gesete Type 500 Cap Dryer, which together remove the residual surface moisture from the crown caps and sides of the bottles.
The unit is fully enclosed with integrated controls, which ensures optimal drying for SuperBock’s high-volume production line.
The SuperBock project underscores SolvAir’s ability to deliver tailor-made solutions for large-scale brewing operations. Our advanced drying technology has markedly enhanced their labelling accuracy and streamlined their bottling line.
