Step by step
- Air Knives on the line: 1 × 600 mm, i.e. 60 cm in total.
- Air they need at 140 mbar:
60 cm × 7.2 m³/hr per cm = 432 m³/hr. - Blower sized on that duty: PX500 at 4 kW, chosen on its published 680 m³/hr at 125 mbar.
- The same knives on compressed air:
60 cm × 3.35 m³/hr per cm = 201 m³/hrat 6.9 bar. - Compressor power for that:
201 × 0.1 kW = 20.1 kW. - Running hours:
12 h × 5 days × 52 weeks = 3,120 hours. - At £0.25/kWh:

Cumulative figures assume today's rate with no price rises. Sources: the 3.35 m³/hr per cm figure is published on Air Knife consumption; the per-model blower ratings come from SolvAir's own Technical Selection Chart; the 0.1 kW per m³/hr factor is rounded down from three compressor data sheets measuring 0.107, 0.113 and 0.114.

This is a range on purpose. Knowing what your compressor draws does not tell us what job it is doing, and the saving depends entirely on that. On our own installed jobs the gap runs from about 2.9× , a blow-off line replaced with performance headroom, to 9.4× for an Air Knife moved off compressed air. We will not narrow it without seeing the application.
