SolvAir's Ionised Air Solutions guarantee impeccable automotive painting and finishing by removing dust particles with ionised air.
Nissan’s vehicle shells entered the paint line carrying airborne particles from the assembly area, and the dust left imperfections in the final paint finish. SolvAir solved the issue with a custom range of ION Air Knives, whose ionised air flow neutralises static electricity on the vehicle parts so that the airstream removes all dust particles prior to painting.
Nissan faced significant challenges in their paint process due to particulate contamination on vehicle shells entering the paint line, as airborne particles from the assembly area were adhering to the car bodies and leading to imperfections in the final paint finish.
The underlying dust contamination resulted in visible defects after paint application, which were identified during quality control inspection and called for extensive rework. This led to increased production costs, reduced efficiency, and the need for additional manual resources and extra time on the production line for reprocessing affected parts.
SolvAir engineered a custom solution featuring a range of ION Air Knives. These devices generate an ionised air flow that neutralises static electricity on the surface of the vehicle parts, which frees the dust particles to be removed.
This process, combined with the powerful airstream from the Air Knives, effectively removes all dust particles prior to painting.
The success of our ionized air system at Nissan underscores SolvAir’s commitment to quality and efficiency in automotive manufacturing by addressing the root cause of paint imperfections - airborne particle contamination.
