SolvAir's innovative Circular Air Knife technology improves cable drying processes, enhancing energy efficiency for manufacturers.
Prysmian USA makes cable at its facility in Scottsville, Texas, where drying with compressed air meant high energy consumption and operational costs. SolvAir replaced it with an Aria-Pak 200 2.2kW Air Blower and a CA-04 102mm Circular Air Knife, optimising energy usage while maintaining high-quality cable drying.
Prysmian USA’s cable production facility in Scottsville, Texas, relied on an inefficient compressed air system for cable drying. This method resulted in high energy consumption and operational costs, prompting the need for a more sustainable and cost-effective drying solution. The cables on the line measure 32 to 55mm in diameter and run at 18 to 50 feet per minute.
Relying on compressed air for cable drying resulted in unnecessarily high energy bills and operational costs. This inefficiency affected the company’s bottom line and hindered its ability to meet increasingly stringent industry sustainability requirements.
SolvAir delivered a tailored, energy-efficient drying solution using an Aria-Pak 200 2.2kW Air Blower and a CA-04 Circular Air Knife with a 4″ (102mm) internal diameter, the product clearance diameter requested by the client. The Air Blower is supplied in a sound enclosure complete with an inlet air filter, and a 76mm flexible hose connects it to the Air Knife.
This system effectively replaced compressed air drying, optimising energy usage while maintaining high-quality cable drying.
With our Circular Air Knife System, we've showcased SolvAir's ability to optimise high-volume cable production processes. Prysmian's significant reduction in energy consumption highlights our dedication to providing both efficient and sustainable solutions.
