EMR Recycling Blower System

Rubber & Plastics

SolvAir's high-flow, high-pressure blower solution eliminates downtime for EMR recycling.

SolvAir's Paxton-powered Air Solutions provide the high pressure, air flow and efficiency needed in challenging environments.

EMR recycles material on a conveyor line, where an under-performing 5.5kW blower was leaving its Air Knife short of pressure and flow. The resulting clogging and frequent cleaning caused substantial production delays, and SolvAir resolved the issue with a PX750 5.5kW Air Blower and a 1000mm Air Knife, without increasing power consumption.

01 The Problem

Clogging and frequent cleaning

EMR faced persistent issues with their existing Air Knife System due to inadequate air pressure and flow. The under-performing 5.5kW blower, a radial fan unit, led to regular clogging, material wastage and frequent maintenance. The material on the conveyor was clogging the Air Knife, and cleaning it two to three times a week caused substantial production delays.

02 The Implication

Lower throughput and recovery rates

The existing Air Blower’s poor performance had far-reaching consequences for EMR. Production bottlenecks from frequent cleaning reduced throughput, while material losses affected recovery rates, and increased energy consumption and maintenance costs strained resources, compromising the facility’s efficiency and profitability. Cleaning the Air Knife also took up maintenance time that could have gone on other important jobs.

03 The Solution

PX750 blower and 1000mm Air Knife

SolvAir’s PX750 5.5kW Air Blower with a 1000mm Air Knife resolved EMR’s air flow challenges. For an Air Knife of that length, the PX750 generates the flow and pressure needed to affect the product without it clogging the Air Knife, and 76mm Stainless Steel pipework connects the two.

The new system’s superior flow, pressure and efficiency eliminated clogging and maintenance downtime, maximised material recovery and optimised energy use, all without increasing power consumption. The PX750 is the same 5.5kW as the blower it replaced, whereas a radial fan unit would have needed a minimum of 11kW to reach the same flow, and might still have fallen short on pressure. EMR has advised that, since installation, the Air Knife has not needed to be cleaned once.
