Standard Profil relied on compressed air for the drying process on each of its five production lines, with every line consuming 3417 litres/minute and driving up energy costs. SolvAir and Neska replaced it with an energy-efficient blower system featuring two Circular Air Knives across each line, achieving annual savings of over £100,000.

The Problem
Compressed air driving up energy costs
Standard Profil faced excessive energy consumption in the drying process on its extrusion lines, where compressed air was used to remove the water from the roving surface. Relying on compressed air, each line consumed 3417 litres/minute, leading to exorbitant energy costs and hindering the company’s efforts towards sustainable manufacturing.

Standard Profil faced mounting operational costs and environmental challenges due to the inefficient drying process. The excessive energy consumption affected profitability and hindered the company’s ability to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

The Solution
Blowers in place of compressed air
Working in partnership with SolvAir, Neska implemented an energy-efficient blower system featuring two Circular Air Knives across each of the five production lines at Standard Profil.
The drying process is now carried out with air from the Air Blowers instead of compressed air, which dramatically reduced energy consumption while maintaining optimal performance and eliminated the 3417 litres/minute of compressed air that each line previously consumed.
